In March 2021, LS Cable & System Ltd. confirmed to have become the sole supplier of enameled magnet wire for the drive motors of Kia EV6 and IONIQ 5 electric vehicles. The company is also working on further developments of high-voltage magnet wires for potential use in EVs manufactured by General Motors.

In February 2021, Essex Furukawa finalized on deploying the Sight Machine to initiate the digital transformation of the company’s magnet wire plant in Mexico. Sight Machine is intended to aid in boosting the production of magnet wire required in electric vehicle production.

In October 2020, Superior Essex Inc., which is the parent company of magnet wire producing key companies Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and Essex Magnet Wire, finalized a joint venture with the name Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire LLC. The new venture has expanded its magnet wire portfolio and its reach to the customers through the synergistic strengths of the involved companies.

In October 2021, Zhengzhou LP Industry CO.,LTD., confirmed to have become the supplier of enameled magnet wire for the drive motors of BYDs electric vehicles. The company is also working on further developments of high-voltage magnet wires for motors.
