How to tell the difference between CCA and copper cables?
CCA cable is much lighter than pure copper since aluminum weighs less. If you compare shipping weights for suspected cable against known high quality pure copper cable then the CCA cable is going to weigh significantly less and this should raise suspicion.

Copper Clad Aluminum Wire VS Pure Copper Wire: What's the Difference? 
Copper-clad aluminum wire isn't as strong as solid copper wire. It's more likely to break or split due to its aluminum core. If you're worried about damage, you may want to choose solid copper wire. Solid copper wire is inherently stronger.
Compared to pure bare copper wires, copper clad aluminum (CCA) wires are cheaper and weigh less. The tensile strength of a CCA wire is weaker than that of a pure copper wire, so CCA wires are more vulnerable, which might cause transmission failure.

What is copper-clad aluminum wire?  Copper-clad aluminum wire consists mostly of aluminum. It only has a small amount of copper for the cladding.
