A polyester-polyimide is prepared from tris (2-hydroxyethyl) isocyan'urate, a polycarboxylic acid, e.g., terephthalic acid or isophthalic acid, an aromatic diamine, e.g., oxydianiline or methylene dianiline and an aromatic carboxylic anhydride containing at least one additional carboxyl group, e.g., trimellitic anhydride or pyromellitic anhydride. The polyester-polyimide is employed to coat an electrical conductor.

Polyester-polyimide wire enamel is heat resistant wire enamels that have good heat shock at 200 C. without the use of a topcoat such as polyethylene terephthalate.
